Final evaluation

I will be talking about how I explored and experimented with different programs and different digital and drawing techniques on Photoshop 3ds max and construct 2. I will be using different research methods. Such as secondary and primary research and using that in my work to show the sci-fi theme and to show how I exiled in one thing but failed in another task.

 

To develop my ideas I used Photoshop to get use to the software and used it to develop my ideas and get used to the user interface and how the software works so I can get better at using it. Photo bashing was a bit of a challenge because I am not really good with Photoshop but I sort of got the hang of it after playing with it for a while but I still struggle using it. I had done the drawing of the 2 d character using Photoshop witch was quiet easy. Photo bashing an environment was a bit challenging trying to make a sci-fi scene. I had to make assets for construct 2 like the level design and my sprite for my game. And I used Photoshop to make my pixel art. In construct 2 we made a game that was a bubble pop game out of our own assets. Done some coding on construct 2 to make the bubble interactive and disappear when touched. I used 3d s max to make basic shapes then moved to more complex shapes learning how to use the tool in 3d s max.  I made a cube in 3ds max and added a texture onto it but first I needed to turn the shape into a net so I could add the texture.

I used two methods to find my research primary and secondary research.to find images with the sci-fi theme mood boards for my work and to use for ideas and I would save links from wherever I go information or pictures that weren’t mine. I did do a lot of secondary research to find information about different art styles primary and second colours. Using secondary research I found sprite board witch I used to reference for my idea on a pixel art character. different design choices I chose was pixel art to do my research trying to find a sci-fi theme for the pixel art and making it in Photoshop but it was a bit challenging because I am not very good at Photoshop. Used secondary research to find textures and images for my 3ds max and construct 2 tasks. I used secondary research to find the different types of games you can make and art style with the games hand how that can change the mood and feel of a game and how it can change how well a game is visually compared to the mechanics of it.

I could use my knowledge and my research to develop a 2d pixel art game later in the future after getting my hands on Photoshop and trying to make platforms and sprites. Making a sprite was a bit hard I didn’t finish it as I was struggling but I found making a sprite was fun and making my platforms for my 2d level In construct 2.making basic shapes in 3d s max can help me in the future for making 3d assets such as boxes creates and other things that would be around a map on a video game. And I used it in my sci-fi scene I did struggle though with 3 ds max because I don’t really know the user interface but I can still do the simple stuff as chamfering making the shape into a net so I can add textures from Photoshop and learning to cut pieces out so they are more of a complex shape such as the robot we made in 3ds max .I can add extra detail to stuff as editing edges by making it a editable Polly and I can manipulate the shape to what I want it to do.

 

 

My conclusion

I didn’t reach my deadlines all the time I did fall behind because I couldn’t keep up with the work. The things I exceled in was with Photoshop construct 2 was a bit challenging and 3ds max where my weak points as I missed a couple sessions and that did set the standard of my work did drop as of it but I have tried as hard as I can to get my work up to par. I have improved since my last peer review but it’s still not up to par.
